We Are Connected: A
Talk On Tolerance And Acceptance To The Students Of Lakota School
On Monday, March 12th ,
Lakota Public School will be hosting a talk entitled: We Are Connected: a Mindset
that promotes tolerance and acceptance.
The one-hour presentation will be delivered to Lakota Middle and High
School students in three separate morning sessions. This will be followed by a one-hour afternoon
session held with their teachers. The
focus will be on how to support their students in putting this mindset into
practice.
Then, that afternoon, there
will be an additional program demonstrating effective ways of teaching tolerance
and acceptance to the elementary students. Their teachers will be
observing these lessons and the classroom techniques through which they will be
imparted. Afterwards, there will be a discussion session with the elementary
teachers. This will give them the opportunity to ask questions about how to
energize and engage their students in the practice and promotion of empathy,
collaboration and a positive school culture.
The presenters will be representatives of 7 Mindsets. 7 Mindsets provides mindset
based Social Emotional Learning (SEL) tools, lessons, training and content to
schools. Its purpose is to build
positive school cultures that prepare children to become contributing citizens and
leaders in their community.
It is expected that The 7 Mindsets presentations of the We Are Connected Mindset will provide a
meaningful foundation on which to build a culture of empathy, connection, and
understanding among the student bodies.
7 Mindsets empowers schools, educators and students to thrive through a mindsets-based social and emotional learning program. 7 Mindsets provides a framework that distills extensive research on the nature of happiness and success into lessons and training for elementary, middle and high schools in 23 U.S. states.
